🥾⛰️ Moel Ysgyfarnogod (En)
- Overview -
This Saturday, we’ll be heading to Moel Ysgyfarnogod. This is a small mountain in central Eryri, and a constituent of the Rhinogydd range. Despite it’s height, the terrain in this area if known to be rugged, including some sections of scrambling over boulders. If we’re treated to cloud breaks (chance would be a fine thing), we’ll have views over the Llyn Trawsfynydd reservoir.

- Description -
Starting from Trawsfynydd, we’ll follow flat rural roads for a few kilometres, wrapping around the south side of the Llyn Trawsfynydd reservoir. We’ll then join the Cambrian Way, and ascend the north face of Moel Gyrafolen. Afterwards, we’ll trend south-west, bagging Foel Penolau, where some scrambling over a boulder field is required. Moel Ysgyfarnogod will be tackled shortly afterwards, representing the tallest peak in this cluster of summits. We’ll then descend the north-west face and have a pitstop at Bryn Cader Faner, an iconic cairn/stone circle. Finally, we’ll hike around the base of the mountains, rejoin the previous rural road, and head back to the bus stop.
The route is around 20.73km, with 791m of ascent.
There are toilets at the start and end of the route.
