Enjoying Freshers Safely AberSU wants you to love student life. That means having the opportunity to have fun and take part in new opportunities, but also means looking out for your wellbeing.
Undeb Aber wants you to love student life. That means having the opportunity to have fun and take part in new opportunities, but it also means looking out for your safety and wellbeing.
Starting university should be an amazing experience and Freshers should only be unforgettable for the right reasons! We’re really upset when we hear about a negative experience in Aber and do our best to stop them, especially when it’s during one of our events or one organised by one of our student groups.
We believe that no matter what, students should be welcome in all our events and groups. You will not be excluded if you do not want to take part in an activity. There can be a lot of peer pressure from other students – but you should never do something you are uncomfortable with. We ask all our students to keep this in mind and make everyone feel welcome and safe.

Alcohol and drugs
Bullying and harassment
We remind all our students that initiation ceremonies and activities promoting excessive alcohol consumption can be dangerous and put you and others in harm’s way, this can be humiliating or degrading. All students sign a set of Rules and Regulations that could be breached by organising or even participating in such activities. When things go wrong, we have a reporting and complaints procedure to help put things right.
Remember Freshers is just the beginning of your next chapter here in Aber. There will be plenty of opportunities throughout the year to meet new people and have fun.
Ensure you stay safe and look after each other.
