What Volunteering Roles do you have? Or have most enjoyed?

This year I have been President of two societies: Men's Hockey and the Elizabethan Madrigal Singers

Why do you volunteer?

I volunteer because both clubs are very important to me. The musical history of the Mads and the sporting history of hockey are important legacies to carry on. Music is a fabulous avenue to express yourself and to blow off some steam.
Hockey provides a wonderful opportunity to make new mates. Whether its over a pint or on the astro, there's a lot of fun to be had.

What is your best feel good moment as a volunteer?

The best moment for me would have to be organising our successful Christmas concert. We had a packed Trinity Church, and performed an evening of wonderful uplifting music. We got rave reviews and plan to keep that momentum going into this year, and future years to come.

What benefits have you gained as a volunteer?

The opportunity to lead a group can be a challenge, but if you put yourself into it fully, there are many great skills to learn. Being a leader requires great patience. This is something I have learnt is extremely important.

What volunteering roles are you looking forward to?

I am looking forward most to organising our 75th Anniversary concert. It is looking to be a wonderful concert, with some great music. I can't wait!
