The Community Fridge
The Community Fridge Project is a way to help reduce food waste and assist students in need. The project aims to work with various outlets to collect left over and safe to eat food and put it in the Community Fridge for any student to utilise. It’s a great way to practise sustainability and help a fellow student out.

Free Little Library
Free Little Library helps students access books in collaboration with the global organisation Little Free Library. You can donate or take any book with the aim being to boost reading among students. The books can be read for fun or to help with your course. No need to register or donate first, just come along and pickup a book! The Free Little Library can be found in the Undeb Aber underground next to the gender-neutral toilets.

Mouth of the Ystwyth
Mouth of the Ystwyth is Aberystwyth’s very own student newspaper. Regular issues are published with stories ranging from local to global, and topics varying from personal stories to sport reports, to poetry. It’s a great way to give a voice to those with something to say.

New Narratives
New Narratives is an initiative set up with DDAS (Dyfed Drug and Alcohol Service). DDAS are a substance use service for adults in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire. Volunteers can get practical experience in supporting substance users, working alongside a DDAS case worker, or you can get involved with the wider logistics helping with outreach, social media, and wider support.

Nightline
Nightline is a student ran service that offers free and confidential listening services to students. They run the service a few nights each week throughout each term. You can contact them via message, phone or email and talk about concerns or get something off your chest. They do not judge nor provide advice, simply listen. Established in 1970, Nightline has provided 1.5 million students over the UK with a safe place to be heard.

Aberystwyth Conservation Volunteers
A student led volunteer group with the aim of improving the local environment. It performs practical and hands-on conservation work. Get involved and make a change! Benefits include: connecting with nature, socialising, exercising and protecting the environment. Tasks range from Peatland restoration to tree planting, to community gardening. With socials every Monday, and task days on Wednesday and Saturday, there’s never a dull moment. There’s been collaborations with groups such as the Dyfi Osprey Project, Penglais Community Garden, the Magic of Life Butterfly House.

Phyte Club
Winner of Academic Society of the Year for 2023/24, Phyte Club is a new and rising society who have burst on to the scene with its range of activities such as working in tropical glasshouses and getting close and personal with a variety of plants in the botany gardens. Social events include terrarium making, woodland walks and trips to places like the butterfly house.

St John Ambulance Cymru
Our resident first aid society, St John Ambulance Cymru provide first aid training and first aid cover for events such as Varsity and Rugby Sevens. There is training every Thursday with plenty of hands on experience and socials consist of activities like movie nights and quizzes, with drinks taking a secondary role in this society.
