What is RAG? Firstly, it stands for 'Raising and Giving' It is essentially raising money or volunteering your time for a chosen cause or charity.
Throughout the year, all of our student groups are given a 'RAG week' where they can take part in such activities. They can raise money for their group, a charity of their choice or our RAG charity of the year.
It runs around Undeb Aber promises to support you to be happy and healthy and be a positive influence.
RAG Weeks
This is when students groups are allocated a week dedicated to fundraising. Some groups run one big event, some groups have something on every day, some groups team up with others and some groups do it solo - there’s no right or wrong way to do a RAG Week, just as long as you’re having fun and raising money for a good cause!
RAG Charity of the Year
The RAG charity of the year is chosen every year by students and officers. Your Opportunities Officer will ask for suggestions of charities throughout the summer months. These will be whittled down to four by your officer team, and at Fresher's Fair, every student will have the ability to vote for who they want to be our RAG Charity of the Year (Supermarket token style).
"RAG (Raising and Giving) is a vital part of University life. Students have the opportunity to raise money or give their time to help a charity or cause close to their hearts. The work of students has benefitted a variety of different causes greatly. Just this year, a small selection of groups raised over £2,000 for our charity of the year. But, RAG does not just help the charity itself, but students gain a variety of skills and experiences perfect for the CV and help them grow as individuals. RAG is the perfect way to learn something new, gain experiences you'll remember forever, and provide critical support for charities."
